Pearl, Miss. – In coordination with County Leadership, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) will be closing a DRC permanently this week. The center in Grenada County will close operations at the close of business on July 12, 2025. A Mobile Disaster Recovery Center will be available if needed.
The Disaster Recovery Center in Convington County will close at the end of business Friday, July 11th, 2025.
Even though these are the last DRCs to operate in the state, MEMA continues to work with federal and local partners to help survivors of the March 14-15 storms and tornadoes with their recovery. As of July 11, FEMA has distributed more than $20 million in individual assistance to over 8,843 residents who have applied for federal aid. Affected households have also received more than $11.5 million in housing assistance. Applicants are reminded that even if you have insurance, you are still encouraged to apply; additional funds may be available.
Residents in the approved counties (Covington, Grenada, Issaquena, Itawamba, Jefferson Davis, Leflore, Marion, Montgomery, Pike, Smith, and Walthall Counties) who sustained losses during the March 14-15 severe weather can apply for FEMA assistance by using the FEMA App, going online to DisasterAssistance.gov, or calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. If you use a relay service such as Video Relay Service, captioned telephone, or other service, provide FEMA with your number for the service.
