DAMAGE UPDATE #4:
PEARL, Miss. (MEMA) – On Friday, October 9, 2020, Hurricane Delta made landfall near Creole, Louisiana, as a Category 2, resulting in damaging wind and heavy rain across Mississippi as well as a brief spin-up tornado in Franklin County.
While multiple counties have received damage, the following official damage reports were submitted to MEMA. They are preliminary numbers and could change throughout the assessment process:
- Adams County:
- Total Homes Impacted: 59
- Total Businesses Impacted: 3
- Claiborne County:
- Total Homes Impacted: 7
- Total Businesses Impacted: 1
- Total Public Roads Impacted: 1
- Copiah County:
- Total Homes Impacted: 3
- Franklin County:
- Total Homes Impacted: 8
- Total Public Roads Impacted: 20
- Jefferson County:
- Total Homes Impacted: 4
- Leflore County:
- Total Homes Impacted: 2
- Lincoln County:
- Total Homes Impacted: 4
- Warren County:
- Total Homes Impacted: 3
- Wilkinson County:
- Total Homes Impacted: 4
- Total Public Roads Impacted: 14

Governor Tate Reeves declared a State of Emergency in anticipation of Hurricane Delta on Wednesday, October 7. President Trump then approved Governor Reeves’ request for a pre-landfall disaster declaration on Thursday, October 9.

Additionally, the National Weather Service confirmed an EF-0 tornado in Franklin County with maximum winds of 76 mph from Delta.
While multiple counties have received damage, the following official damage reports were submitted to MEMA. They are preliminary numbers and could change throughout the assessment process:

- Wilkinson: Four homes with major damage; 14 public roads with minor damage

PEARL, Miss. (MEMA) – On Friday, October 9, 2020, Hurricane Delta made landfall near Creole, Louisiana, as a Category 2, bringing with it damaging winds, rain and the possibility of tornadoes. At this time, two injuries (Wilkinson and Lincoln Counties) have been reported to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency due to the storm.
While multiple counties have received damage, the following official damage reports were submitted to MEMA. They are preliminary numbers and could change throughout the assessment process:
- Lincoln: Three homes with minor damage; two public utilities with major damage
- Wilkinson: Four homes with major damage; 14 public roads with minor damage
Currently, the Adams County Safe Room remains open: 323 Liberty Road, Natchez, MS 39120. MEMA personnel is in Adams County, assisting with their storm response and damage assessments.
