PEARL, Miss. (MEMA) – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency continues to work with our local county EMA directors to assess areas impacted by significant flash flooding beginning on June 8, 2021, in north Mississippi. At this time, counties are reporting 95 homes damaged and 90 public roads and buildings damaged or affected by this event. MEMA understands that more damage has occurred than what’s currently reported; EMA Directors have been in response mode for the past few days. Damage assessments will begin over the weekend. Currently, we have received initial damage reports from the following counties:
- Grenada County:
- Homes Impacted: 12
- Lee County:
- Homes Impacted: 18
- Oktibbeha County:
- Homes Impacted: 1
- Tallahatchie County:
- Homes Impacted: 50
- Quitman County:
- Homes Impacted: 8
- Yalobusha County:
- Homes Impacted: 6
*These are preliminary numbers and could change throughout the assessment process.
MEMA continues to work directly with Local County EMA Directors to further assess the damage caused by this flooding event.
Residents can self-report damage to county emergency management agencies through MEMA’s self-reporting tool. Click here to view the self-report links for each county. Impacted residents can begin their recovery efforts by filing insurance claims and documenting damage through photos.
