Mississippi now has 96 personnel deployed to Florida to assist with Hurricane Michael Recovery Operations through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC).
Here is a list of the personnel and equipment deployed:
One Mass Care Coordinator:
- Member of MS Dept. of Human Services
EMAC A-Team:
- Two MEMA staff
Five Ambulance Strike Teams:
- 11 MS State Dept. of Health staff
One AmBus with support personnel:
- 11 University of MS Medical Center staff
Strike Team and AmBus personnel deployed last week and will return today.
Two CH-47 National Guard Helicopters with crew:
- 11 MS National Guardsmen
One Individual Assistance Officer:
- MEMA staff
Health Incident Management Team:
- 11 MS State Dept. of Health staff
Two Type II Swift Water Rescue Teams:
- 42 members of MS Homeland Security Search and Rescue

- Eight local emergency management members

- David Burford – Washington County Emergency Management Director
- Benny Duett – Lauderdale County Emergency Management
- Eddie Ivy – Clarke County Emergency Management Director
- Raven James – Stone County Emergency Management Director
- Anthony Johnson – Jackson County Fire and Emergency Management
- Tommy Malone – Leake County Emergency Management Director
- Jamie Roberson – Yazoo-MS Delta Levee Board Emergency Management Director
The Emergency Management Assistance Compact is an agreement signed by all 50 states and the U.S. Territories and allows for state-to-state support during disasters. The expenses for this deployment will be covered by the state of Florida.
MEMA and other state agencies are prepared to provide additional support as it is requested.
