PEARL, Miss. (MEMA) – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is working with counties to assess damage from the severe weather on January 5, 2025. There are reports of homes damaged, trees down, and power outages due to yesterday’s storms. Currently, one injury (Rankin County) has been reported to MEMA.
Initial damage assessments are underway, and 11 counties are currently reporting damage. We anticipate that number will change as we are in the early stages of the damage assessment process. The counties reporting damage are:

• Hinds
• Jasper
• Jefferson Davis
• Leake
• Madison
• Monroe
• Noxubee
• Rankin
• Smith
• Winston
MEMA encourages residents who sustained damage to their homes to report it to their counties and MEMA using MEMA’s self-report tool.
