JACKSON, Miss. – Governor Tate Reeves has requested an expedited Major Disaster Declaration for counties impacted by the deadly tornadoes and severe weather that swept through the state on March 24, 2023.
“The scale of the damage and loss is evident everywhere affected today,” said Governor Tate Reeves. “From homes, to businesses, and even entire communities. Respond, recover, rebuild together. That is the mission.”
The state is requesting individual assistance and debris removal for the following counties: Carroll, Humphreys, Monroe, and Sharkey.
Twenty five Mississippians were killed overnight due to this severe weather. The state is working quickly to assist, not only in the short term, but long term recovery as well.
