PEARL, Miss. (MEMA) – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency continues to work with counties to assess damage from the severe weather on February 12, 2025. At this time, the National Weather Service has confirmed two tornadoes touched down across the state during Wednesday’s severe weather event with damage surveys ongoing. Two injuries (Wayne County) have been reported to MEMA. Statewide, counties have reported 53 homes and 6 businesses received damaged; those numbers are expected to change during the assessment and validation process.
The following is PRELIMINARY and will change through the assessment process. The following counties have reported they have received storm damage:
- Marion – 15 homes, 4 businesses
- Wayne – 38 homes, 2 businesses
MEMA has provided tarps and damage assessment teams to assist the affected counties.
MEMA encourages residents who’ve sustained damage from this severe weather event to do the following:
- File an insurance claim.
- Take photos of the damage to the home.
- Report damage to county/MEMA via the self-report tool.
