PEARL, Miss. (MEMA) – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency continues to assess damage in counties impacted by the severe weather on April 5, 2022. No injuries have been reported. At this time, the National Weather Service Jackson has confirmed at least five tornadoes occurred; more surveys are underway.
Initial damage assessments are underway for the April 5th event. The following is PRELIMINARY and will change through the assessment process. These counties report some type of damage ranging from affected to destroyed.
- Covington
- Jefferson Davis
- Lauderdale
- Newton
- Wayne
This week, MEMA will be requesting FEMA to conduct joint damage assessments for Individual Assistance for the March 22nd and March 30th severe weather events. At this time, federal assistance is NOT available. MEMA is in the process of collecting and validating data.
