Public Information

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency’s Public Information Officers are available to answer inquiries from the media and public about ongoing disasters, emergencies and any of the agency’s programs. The public may also communicate with the agency and follow MEMA updates through the agency’s Twitter feed, or the agency’s Facebook page.

Educating and preparing the people of Mississippi for potential emergencies is a vital part of MEMA’s External Affairs Office. Developing outreach materials that will serve not only the public, but also local officials and first responders is a top priority for external affairs.

During a disaster or crisis, emergency information is as crucial as food and water. The state has an inherent obligation to protect its citizens and provide them with time-sensitive emergency information to protect their lives and properties and ensure their safety and security.

If your group is interested in having a speaker from MEMA, or visiting the agency for a tour, please do not hesitate to contact the External Affairs staff to set up a time and date for the event.

Questions and comments may also be submitted to the agency via e-mail – [email protected]. The public information line is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at 866-519-MEMA (6362). The media contact line is 866-920-MEMA(6362).
