PEARL, Miss. (MEMA) – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency continues to work with counties impacted by the severe weather on December 28, 2024. Counties are finishing up initial damage assessments and MEMA has begun validating those damages. Power continues to be restored throughout the state. As of 10:00 AM Thursday, Mississippi has 1,200 customers reported without power. The National Weather Service has confirmed 27 tornadoes touched down on December 28th in Mississippi and storm surveys are ongoing.
The following counties have submitted PRELIMINARY damage reports to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency. These numbers can change through the assessment process.

Residents and business owners can self-report damage from the severe storms on December 28 to their county and MEMA via MEMA’s self-report tool.
