Pearl, Miss. (MEMA) –– The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is working with counties to assess damage from Hurricane Francine. At this time, one injury (Jones County) has been reported to MEMA. All 82 counties, the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and the State Emergency Operations Center have returned to normal operations.
Initial damage assessments are underway. The following is PRELIMINARY and will change through the assessment process. These numbers are provided to MEMA by the counties. The damage to homes can range from affected to destroyed.
- Adams – 1 home, 1 business
- Harrison – 2 homes, 1 bridge
- Jackson – 1 home
If residents have damage to their homes they can contact their county emergency management director or report their damage using the self-report tool at msema.org.
Because of the minimal damage sustained, at this time, the state has not reached the minimum threshold of $5.5 million to request federal assistance.
