Pearl, Miss. – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, the American Red Cross, FEMA, and multiple state and local partners continue to respond to the March 24, 2023, tornadoes (DR- 4697-MS) six months after the event.

- Debris Removal Continues
As of September 22, 143 survivors remain in nine non-congregate shelters across the state. This includes 58 families. The American Red Cross continues to provide meals for survivors of the March 24th tornado. Over 94 thousand meals have been served including breakfasts, lunches, and dinners for those staying in non-congregate shelters.
Currently, there are 45 families in FEMA temporary mobile housing units.
FEMA/SBA Assistance numbers:
- FEMA: More than $12.6 million in FEMA assistance in the hands of eligible
- SBA: Over $19.6 million in SBA home and business loans
- Federal support for recovery now totals more than $32.2
Over 83 businesses contributed goods or services to survivors through the State Business Emergency Operations Center (BEOC). In total, nine donation centers were coordinated throughout the state to help tornado survivors. Those donation centers are now closed.
The State coordinated two resource fairs, in Rolling Fork and Amory, for survivors to help fulfill any unmet needs and connect families with organizations and agencies that could help.
As recovery continues, over 1,752,249 cubic yards of debris have been removed across the state.
