Pearl – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency continues to assess the damage and aid in response and recovery efforts in multiple counties affected by the March 24th tornadoes and severe weather.

Residents in Carroll, Humphreys, Montgomery, Monroe, Panola, and Sharkey Counties can now register for FEMA Individual Assistance by visiting disasterassistance.gov or calling 800-621-FEMA (3362), disaster number DR- 4697.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Mobile Registration Centers are now open to serve those affected by the storms and severe weather at the following locations:

FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance (DSA) teams are also going door-to-door to assist residents with their FEMA applications. Residents are strongly advised NOT to disclose any personally identifiable information to anyone unless they are wearing FEMA attire and have their federal photo identification badge.

Residents in Carroll, Humphreys, Montgomery, Monroe, Panola, and Sharkey counties in Mississippi are eligible for both Physical and Economic Injury Disaster Loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

The SBA has opened a Portable Loan Outreach Center (PLOC) at the following location:

  • South Delta High School, 303 Parkway Street, Rolling Fork, MS 39159
  • Monday to Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Applicants may also apply online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via SBA’s secure website at https://disasterloanassistance.sba.gov/ela/s/ and should apply under SBA declaration # 17836 or call 800-659-2955.

Hot Showers and Restrooms are open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Drop-off Laundry Services are available (Drop off between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to pick up the next day) at the following locations:

  • The Train Track on Martin Luther King Street in Rolling Fork
  • Deer Creek Baptist Church on 4th and Joor Avenue in Rolling Fork

ESF #6 Mass Care and Human Services

The Mississippi Department of Employment Security (MDES) If you are out of work because of the recent tornadoes, you may be eligible for Unemployment Insurance (UI) Assistance. MDES services are available in person, online, or by telephone.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) households in the following counties who suffered food loss as the result of the tornadoes have until Monday, April 24, 2023, to request replacement benefits: Holmes, Montgomery, Sharkey, Humphreys, Carroll, and Monroe. SNAP households in all other counties impacted by weekend storms have ten (10) days to submit a SNAP replacement application. Applicants will be required to document a power outage lasting over four hours.

Residents must request a replacement at their local Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS). Households can also submit the replacement request using mail, email, or the upload feature on the MDHS website. (www.mdhs.ms.gov). The Household Statement of Food Loss Due to Household Disaster, MDHS-EA-508 is available on the MDHS website https://www.mdhs.ms.gov/snap-replacement-benefits-supplemental-nutrition-assistance-program-snap/. For assistance completing the SNAP replacement application, contact the Economic Assistance Customer Service Center at 800-948-3050.  

The Mississippi Division of Medicaid has enacted its state of emergency to allow patients impacted by the storm to receive early refills and additional prescriptions above the monthly limit. Pharmacy providers should follow the billing guidelines found at this link: https://medicaid.ms.gov/disaster-billing-directions/

The Department of Mental Health reports that the Region 6 Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) is responding to the community to bring supplies and meet mental health needs. Those specialists are available to provide services in the community for anyone experiencing a behavioral health crisis. The DMH Helpline is also available for information and referral services and can be reached at 1-877-210-8513.

  • Position the generator outdoors and well away (at least 20 feet) from any structure.
  • Keep the generator dry.
  • Always direct exhaust AWAY from your home.
  • Make sure the generator is properly grounded.
  • Plug equipment directly into the generator.
  • Turn the generator off and let it cool before refueling.
