PUBLIC INFORMATION
The Mississippi Emergency Management Association's Public Information Officers are available to answer inquiries from the media and public about ongoing disasters, emergencies, and any of the agency’s programs. People may also communicate with the agency and follow MEMA updates through
www.twitter.com/msema or the agency’s Facebook page.
If your group is interested in having a speaker from MEMA or visiting the agency for a tour, please do not hesitate to contact the External Affairs staff to set up a time and date for the event.
Educating and preparing the people of Mississippi for potential emergencies is a vital part of MEMA’s External Affairs Department. Developing outreach materials that will serve not only the public but also local officials and first responders is a top priority for external affairs.
During a disaster or crisis, emergency information is as crucial as food and water. The state has an inherent obligation to protect its citizens and provide them with time-sensitive emergency information to protect their lives and properties, and ensure their safety and security.
Questions and comments may also be submitted to the agency via e-mail –
memainfo@mema.ms.gov. The public information line is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at 866-519-MEMA (6362). The media contact line is 866-920-MEMA(6362).
